Just thought I'd post some pics of the door mirror on my 91 940. I pulled it apart because the mirror glass was coming loose from its backing plate and was wobbling around. When I got it apart I found that the mirror glass was being held on by just a thin strip of adhesive along the top - the rest had let go. Since I didn't want to have the mirror fall off onto the road repair was in order. I found it a little tricky to get the mirror glass out so I've posted these pics to help others who may have to face a similar job.
The first one shows the back of the mirror glass backing plate. This side faces inward towards the mirror housing. You can see the retaining ring and at the bottom you can see the ring teeth which you move with a thin screwdriver - placed through the hole in the bottom of the housing - towards the right so you can remove the back plate. It doesn't move very far - about 1/2 inch or so. With the ring loosened you must carefully prise the mirror and its backing plate out of the housing. To reinstall place the mirror into the housing and turn the ring to the left (towards the car) to lock it in place.

The second pic shows the inside of the mirror housing with the position adjuster and cables on the left.

The third pic shows the back of the mirror adjuster with the cables going into it.

These pictures apply only to 7**/9** up to about 1992. Later models are different.
Hope someone finds these pictures useful.
Regards
Brad
