Suggestions?? 740 wagon - getting panrod (rear torque rod?) back in - rear end problem

740 1990 16C GLE- had the top bolt of the trail arm back out (bear with me - I find all sorts of different terms used). Only finally go it back in by loosening the track rod (torque rod?, panhard rod?) and removing the lower passenger side bolt. That allowed me to shift the alxe (so it seems) to allow alignment.

Now to be a bit more clear. I am talking about rod (panhard rod, tac rod? Terminology!) that goes from the upper driver's side DIAGONALLY across to the passenger side across the casing of the rear axle. Now I am having trouble getting the holes to goes to line up to get the metal sleeve inside the bushing and final bolt back in.

The holes ALMOST align when I have the body jacked up with the suspension hanging - is this the way to approach the problem? Do I jack it up, and have some one press on the wheels, manipulating them to try for alignment? Or do I need to loosen up something else to gain more play room?

All suggestions will be gratefully appreciated!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!!
