Hey there, so today I was driving along and I heard a soloniod noise of some sort and the OD light came on and is not responsive to the OD selector switch on the shift handle. Needless to say, the transmission won't go into overdrive any more. Do any of you have a suggestion of where to start with this problem?
Research has led me to believe that I need to replace the relay behind the air vents. I pulled the glove box and I see the relay, is that the easy way to get to it? Can I test it? I also looked under the car at the wiring between the shifter and the transmission, it looks like there is one wire that comes down from the shifter assembly, the wire is pretty cracked looking. What about if I have a trip this weekend that I would like to take the car on, can I override the overdrive with a jumper or something for the trip until I can order a relay if that's the problem?
Other issue is that sometimes the car won't start so easily, I have to crack the throttle for it to light off. Then when it starts it somtimes has a very lopey idle and occasionally stalls. I don't have a check engine light, but I do get a code that translates into "adjusting for lean/rich idle condition" when I pull codes (it's 2-3-2 or 2-3-3 something like that, I'm not in the garage now) If I clear codes, go for a ride and come back and check again, I almost always have the code again.
Any suggestions here? I have cleaned the throttle body and all that...
Thanks in advance!
