LH Brake light won't work S90-V90 1997

1997 Wagon - LH brake light won't work. I have replaced the bulb. I have replaced the socket. I have replaced the brake light relay. When I put my foot on the brake I can hear a switch activate under the console? Does it have anything to do with the LH or RH brake light or just them together? How about the circuitry on the back of the light assys themselves? Obviously there's something wrong in the wiring somewhere on the left side. I'm open for any suggestions.
