Hello, all. This is my first time posting here. I have a '95 940 wagon that is having some trouble with broken wheel studs on one front wheel. I have read the FAQ, but I need some clarification. I know the basic process for replacing wheel studs, but this one bothers me a bit. I cut out the remains of the old studs and purchased new this afternoon. From reading the FAQ I know that some grinding is required to clear the ABS tone ring, but I'm finding that a LOT needs to be ground off. I experimented with one stud and found that I would have to grind over half of the thickness of the "head" and deep into the knurls to get it past the ABS ring. The stud would have less than half of its head left, not to mention the missing knurls. The new studs are the same length as the factory studs, so I know that is not the problem. Is there a way to safely press off the ABS ring? I'd really hate to spend $150+ on a new hub assy because of three broken studs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
