Engine died - then restarted 200 1992

I was happily tooling along at 60mph on the freeway when the engine died - all dash lights on. I pulled over wondering what to do next. It was too noisy to try listening for the fuel pump and I had no help to check for spark. After 5 minutes I turned the key just to see if the engine would crank and it started right up. I headed for the nearest exit and began to head back home (on side roads). The car died again about 5 minutes later. Again, I let it sit for 5 minutes and it restarted. Another 20 minutes and I was home. Now I am in a quandary .How do I troubleshoot this?

I have had fuel pump relays go out before, but they seemed to die when I had reached my destination.

I had a no-start condition with this car about 3 weeks ago. At the time, the spark seemed to be a weak yellow (tested it at night). I switched coils - no change. I removed the power booster (is that the right name? - it comes before the coil) and I noticed a lot of white powder (corrosion) on the back. I cleaned it up and the car started but I am not 100% sure that was the problem.

It seems to be that most of my problems with my 240's ('88 and '92)of late are to do with corroded connections in the electrical system.
