Ok so here's the Cliff Notes: 1991 240. Had a rich running condition that I absolutely killed myself trying to track down. Everything from FPR to ECU to AMM to plugs and wires to hoses to.......I think you get the point. So, I take it to the muffler shop today and up on the lift I notice that the exhaust is rotten from the cat back. Since I am going to be doing some modding in the coming months and I'm tired of hearing the exhaust rattle after every bump, I tell him to give me a quick fix- This can't be done as it is rotten to the core. Fast forward- he replaces the pipe from the cat back with a new muffler and Kaboom- no more check engine light- runs like a top. The exhaust leak could have caused the fault? Like I said, I am probably exposing my ignorance here but....could it actually have been that simple? Thanks to all that have responded to my posts. This will not be the last......
