I asked for the pinout for the plug to the motronic on my 92 964. I got it.
I'm still getting no start on an engine swap. Frustrating is the fact that after several times of not starting, it fired up and ran for about 30 seconds until I turned it off to button things up. It hasn't fired since--and I didn't even get the buttoning up done. I called my wife out to hear it start and of course....
I have checked three grounds: on the left motor mount, the back of the head, and the rt rear of the head to the body. They check physically and from the connectors, e.g. the ground pins at the air flow sensor, the oxygen sensor heater, and the power stages check good with a meter.
Power seems good. I get power to the hot side of the coils and the computer appears to be alive, sending 1-1-1 at the diagnostic light, fuel pump operates for a second, the idle valve buzzes.
I have swapped both the cam sensor and the flywheel impulse sensor with the ones from the engine I pulled and then put back the ones that came with the engine (and started once) when it made no difference. I pulled the plug to the computer and using the above referenced pinout diagram, checked for continuity to the CTS, cam sensor, and flywheel sensor--all good.
Using one of the coils from the old engine, I have looked for spark while turning it over and got nothing. I swapped one of the old power stages in for that cylinder and still nothing.
I'm at the point where I can be seen talking to the silent beast in a strained voice about trading it for a used Kia. (I would never....)
Anyone with some obscure thing you saw once, heard talked about in hushed whispers behind a dealership, or dreamed about after reading this? I'm pretty stuck at this point.
Thanks folks!
