What wire is what?
I have an 88 240dl sedan. My radio seems to be shorted out. Power is on radio is off. I can slap the dash, or remove the cover on the dash and make the radio come on temporarily. This tells me that the speaker wires are shorted out. The tape deck is factory and eats tapes. I have a pioneer cd player and am ready to install it. I have installed many radios in newer cars. Many newer cars have the wires color coded and it is just a little easier. The wires in the factory Volvo tape deck do not disconnect out of the head unit, so now I must cut them to install the pioneer. They are also color coded and I cannot figure what wire is what. I don't want to test the wires with a voltmeter tool. The wire color are as follows.
1. Solid Green
2. Solid Black
3. Solid red
4. Solid yellow
5. Solid grey
6. Solid brown
7. Solid orangish pink
8. solid blue
9. white with blue stripe (Mostly white)
10. blue with white stripe (Mostly blue)
What wire is what? I have posted this message before with no replies. Please help my drives seem even longer with no music. My tape deck is mounted up higher vs mounted lower in earlier models.
