A/C irregularity/ Where's that a/c relay found? 700

My a/c is mostly not working but when it does turn on , it cranks. This means that it may turn on in the winter and may not work for most of the summer. Can anyone tell me where to find the a/c relay on the 85-90 740's. I don't have the troublesome three knobs system controls found on the 91 to 95 models. Just a sliding knob with three snowflakes on the left and the windshield icon on the right.
