Cleaning the car up a bit.. 200 1989

Hi,

Just wondering about cleaning under the hood of my 240. I want to start taking care of some issues in there and I find that it's pretty dirty in there. Can I just use a foaming cleaner/degreaser and wash down? Anything I should be wary of, like electricals etc? Then after it's clean, should I spray something over to preserve/maintain components?

Also, I wonder- how does one gap a plug? The books say to ensure a proper gap, but I wouldn't know how to bend that little electrode without knarling up the surface..

What's the best method of gluing outer trim back onto the body. I'm speaking specifically about the plastic near the bottom of the doors and body. I thought maybe a polyurethane construction adhesive caulk would work pretty well.

Finally, you know all those metal clips that hold the plastic bits (black plastic bumper etc) on the outside of the car? Is there somewhere cheaper than IPD to get those? Is there an equivalent out there that works just as well?

Thanks!

Yaleh.
