Cleaning a Dirty Expansion Tank 900

Quick question. Has anyone cleaned their expansion tank before, and if so, what worked best?

Mine has a built up slime from the coolant. If you look at the tank from the side, it always looks like it's on MIN because of this built up green sludge. Not a very safe situation.

I thought I would try cleaning this one up before shelling out some money for a new one.
