Custom rear axle shafts for Dana 30 rear axles with drum brakes 120-130

Hello,

Is anyone interested in replacement axles for Dana 30 rear ends with drum brakes?

In a previous posting I mentioned that several years ago I approached Moser Axles to have custom made axle shafts made that would have the same number of splines as the 140/240.

I sent them an axle as an example and they said they were not interested in making them. It turns out Moser does not own the company that makes their axles.

I contacted another company that sells axles, and their tech department steered me towards a local axle manufacturer. I spoke to the owner and he believes that if a total of 30 axles(15 pairs) were ordered, that the cost could be as low as $200.00 each for a total of $400.00 for a pair of new axles. He will not quote me an exact price until he saw an example, but he was pretty sure he could hold to his over the phone sight unseen guestimate.

These axles will only work for 1966-1970 Volvo 1800 and 122 and possibly some 544/P210 with Dana 30 rear axles and drum brakes.

With fine spline axles you can use 140/200/700 replacement differential parts specifically the side gears, which are cheaper as the rest of the parts are the same.

And with fine spline axles you can use one of several types and brands of locking differentials that are easier to find and cheaper to buy that also fit in 140/200/700 Volvos.

Dana 30 PowerLoks with course spline axles and side gears are rare as hens teeth and someone in GB or Australia makes or made a torsen type of locking differential to fit the course spline Dana 30 and Dana 27 rear ends, but it was really expensive, over $1600.00 if I remember correctly.
