dome light - door switches problem 200 1981

The dome light was not turning on, and I traced the problem to the pin switches in the doors. Replace the drivers side, that works fine. Unfortunately, I have run into an issue on the passenger side. It appears that somewhere along the way, they changed styles of switches. The passenger side has only a single contact, and the wires are jumpered to each other. Can I just remove the jumper and connect to each terminal of the newer style switch?
