I am about to install new compressor, hoses, evaporator etc... in my beloved 1984 245. Sticking with York piston compressor and R-12.
I am getting mixed signals on how much oil to put in the system but more confusing is Where to put it. The York manual says to add 10 oz. to compressor "sump". My mechanic said to "be sure and add oil to each new component as well"
On a compressor that is lubricated from the freon/oil mixture that circulates through the system, that makes sense. However, since the York has its own oil sump why add oil to other A/C components when there are no moving parts? i am assuming that the oil in the York "sump" does not get circulated throughout the entire system.
So.... to anyone who knows, do I add oil to all the new components? If so, how much to each?
Thanks, in advance, for your input
