940 Mud Flaps - Worth it? 900

Gentlemen-
I have been thinking of adding mudflaps to my 940 as my work sometimes leads me onto gravel roads and it appears as though they work to protect the underbelly of the car. Does anybody have these, and if so, are they a functional investment or just an expensive piece of plastic? What are the positives and negatives of having them installed? If they are a smart buy, where can one get them, and what do they cost? I recall someone at IPD was going to get me a quote on a special order but I never heard back from him. Is the dealer the place to go or should I track down the guy at IPD again for a price quote? Thanks, -Scott in St. Louis
