HOW DO YOU KNOW IF IT's AN OIL PUMP PROBLEM?????????

My 1967 122s automatic doesn't get that much use and besides starting her up and taking her out to keep the battery and carbon from clogging her up....when I statred her up to just warm her up a little, the OIL LIGHT COMES ON..flickers, goes out, comes on...checked dip stick and actually had a little more than full {don't know why I would have added more at another time..maybe I couldn't get the correct reading on her} anyway....would a little extra oil cause the light to come on? The light comes on after about 5 or 10 min into warming her up. How do I eliminate each thing at a time and what do I do to check it out? thanks! LYNN What do you think it is????????
