polyurethane bushing installation 200 1993

I would like to replace the rear trailing arm bushings with poly ones. However one needs to burn out the rubber parts of the OEM bushings with a torch. Hows about me removing the OEM bushing (I made the puller) and burn them off on a bench? Then install just the shell and put in the poly afterwards.
Is this too much trouble?
