I have two non-working clocks from 240s. They are both the round VDO clocks that fit up next to the oil pressue, turbo, and voltage guages. What I don't have is a clock that works. I tested the wires in the car, which are both fine, I just happen to have two busted clocks.
I figured that I would see if I can make one working clock from two broken ones (I know, wishful thinking). Much to my embarrassment, they did not come apart in any obvious way. I tried twising and prying the bezel, I tried every screw there was, I even tried brute force. Finally, under a cloud of shame, I sawed around the perimeter on one of them to get inside (for all that was worth!), but I am curious if there is a real way to get into them, and what that is.
By the way, aside from being filthy, there was nothing obviously wrong with the clock once I got it apart, so this might all be for nought.
ANY advice is appreciated.
Thanks!
