Radiator Temperature Sensor Characteristics? 900 1993

I just bought a 93 940 and am replacing the radiator, among other things. I took the sensor out of the old radiator and decided I'd test it before putting it in the new radiator. I hooked up an ohmmeter, put the sensor in water on the stove, brought it up to boiling and there was never continuity so I thought the sensor must be bad. So, I decided to see what would happen if I put it on the electric stove element and after a few seconds there was continuity. So, the sensor (thermostat) is indeed closing at some temperature above boiling water (about 212 F here in Minnesota). I would guess it should 'make' at around 190 degrees F or so.

Does anyone know at water temperature the contacts should 'make' on this sensor? I don't know whether the sensor is good or bad?

Thanks - Glen
