(Volvo B21F into the 1958 Vauxhall project update) I temporarly mounted the Penta 125HP marine intake on the engine and it fits perfectly. One problem, no vacuum ports. The linkage lever swapped from the throttle body with a little cutting and grinding, but I will have to figure out a way to hook up the trans kick-down. Does anyone know if the Solex carb has a vacuum port in it that is pluged up with a screw or plug? There are several things I don't know about this carb. It has no choke butterfly. There is a vacuum port type fitting on the airhorn section above the carb where there is no vacuum available. I have a threaded fitting for a vacuum port that I was thinking about drilling and tapping inth the intake; but I was told by a friend of mine that direct vacuum from the manifold is too much for the distributer's vacuum advance and will keep it advanced 100% all of the time when it is running. Any Ideas.
I've got to figure out how to upload .jpg's here so someone can ID this Carb.
I got sidetracked on a bigger project for now. A new roof on my garage before winter hits - the clock is ticking and I've ran out of sunlight for today.
P.S.
Someone clue me in on Volvo B-series heads being mounted on Ford 2.3 motors. Is this just an urban legend?
