Whacky Instrument Cluster 200

1992 245, 154k, automatic

I posted yesterday in regards to a ticking noise that has been coming from the instrument cluster for a few weeks, as the wheels turn. All lights, gauges, speedometer and odometer had been working fine.

Got in the car tonight, and the entire instrument cluster was dead - except for the clock. Speedometer/odometer/trip meter dead, no fuel or temp gauge, no warning lights.

However the overdrive arrow came on (usually meaning it is disengaged) when I turned the key - ?

I drove a few miles, parked for an hour, got back in - all systems go. Drove, parked, shopped, got in: all systems dead. When I turned the overdrive off and on a few times, the speedo would work erratically while OD light was on, go dead when it was off - heck, or the other way around. Finally, the amp light came on and stayed on. I hit the OD button a few more times, and eventually the amp light went out and everything worked again.

Halloween, or are the gremlins here to stay?
