New lock cylinders 200 1987

Hey All,

Well, it has been a fun day. My Mom had her purse stolen while she was in a store shopping. Unfortunately, it happened to have the keys to the house and her car, an '87 240 DL sedan. Since her wallet with her ID and insurance info were in the purse, the person who stole it may know her address and what kind of car she drives. We called a local Volvo dealer that quoted us somewhere around $800-1300 to change the lock cylinders in the car, with $500 of it being the cylinders. My question is how difficult is it to replace the cylinders in the car, and is this estimate reasonable? (I know dealers are expensive.) If the insurance company is willing to pay for it, I think we may have the dealer do it. However, if they are not willing to do so, I may wind up changing them. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Regards, Jon 'Uncle Olaf'
