Defrost Vacuum Line problem. Help needed!! 200 1986

Hi guys,
Back with another problem on the 1986 244GL....
Last night was the first time I tried using the defroster on my car. Unfortunately when I hit the button to turn on the defroster, nothing happened. Also it doesn't seem as if pushing the floor button does anything either although the floor vents are always on (as are the dash vents). When I say it doesn't seem to do anything I mean that I can't hear any flaps opening or closing as I'm used to hearing in our other cars.
Now I've done a little reading and found that this is almost always a problem with vacuum lines. After reading this I went to the garage this morning and decided to see what I could find.
Well after looking and looking on the passenger side of the car, I finally found a rubber grommet through the firewall that was SUPPOSED to contain a vacuum hose. The only problem was that, on the engine side of the firewall there was nothing there.
Now I took the felt panel down on the passenger side and sure enough there was a vacuum hose coming out of that rubber grommet. It seems my vacuum line has broken off right where it goes through the firewall. Now I know this is going to be an easy fix since all I have to do is buy a new piece of hose and reattach it, but the problem comes in in knowing where the hose hooks up in the engine bay.
I have looked all over the intake manifold and there are no open attachment points. Also I've checked on the vacuum servo and likewise, everything seems to be hooked up correctly and completely. I know I'm missing something but I just don't know what it is.
Also, my cruise control hasn't worked since buying the car and I finally gave up on making it do so. Could this disconnected line have anything to do with the cruise not working?
Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. If you can tell me where to hook my new hose up to I think I can get the defrosters working again which will make nighttime driving a LOT more safe.
Thanks in advance.
Dave
