exhaust replacement problem on 700 - heat or fire hazard?

This concerns a Volvo 1989 740 sedan, 220,000 mile splus, good shpe.

I replaced the exhaust system from the catalytic converter back with Starla parts. Everything went on fine, but the pipe running from the catalytic converter to the intermediate rear muffler is now pressing close to the floor above - it rattles against it in fact. But it is the heat from the pipe that worries me.

The rest of the system is in fine - but I am concerned about the heat from the pipe against the floor. The pipe attached to the intermediate muffler running forward to the catalytic converter did seem to be bent at a bit of angle - maybe this is the problem. (I couldn't compare it to the one I took off becuase that is the portion of the muffler that fractured).

Anyway, how to I remedy this - can I bend anything? Or what?

Thanks,
Brian
