best maintenance book or class?

I have a 94, 940 and the corresponding haynes manual. My haynes manual stinks. Im new to fixing cars, but excited about giving it a shot. Is there a better manual with lots of pictures that doesnt assume I know what a multiplug etc. is?
Alternatively, does anyone know of classes in the boston area that would teach this sort of thing?
