Bosch plug wires nicht so gut? 700

I replaced my plug wires a couple years ago (there was nothing apparently wrong with them) about 1.5 years ago and again about 6 months ago.
Both times, the front (closest to the water pump) spark plug wire broke just behind the metal crimp.
I read that bougicords are good, but I saw some images and they looked exactly like the Bosch wires.
I grabbed one from pick|N|Pull temporarily (and some support clips), since I have recrimped it farther up twice, and it's working great for now. It's a lot older and has better, thicker insulation (I think rubber, not silicone). I found out what (someone said 40,000 V) feels like because the wire shorted to me when I tried to pull it with the ignition running. Just after that, I found the wire had broken in the same spot and was shorting to the turbo.

Basically, the insulation on both sets had gotten very brittled/baked and snapped really easily. And I was pulling on the rubber foot, not the wire when they broke.

I remember a mention of braided or some sort of very high performance single core wires with really great insulation and was wondering if anyone remembered them. They were definitely not Bougicord.

Anyway, if anyone knows or has a clue, please let me know.
Thanks.
