OK, from what I have been able to figure out, my MSD-6a died on me. It doesn't even have enough output to run the diagnostics that could prove it's bad. but I did follow all the test procedures I could. Looks like it just gave up the ghost.
Not a good thing to have happen when you're 'way up on a mountain and can't walk!!

Besides the fact that cell phones don't work up there. ;-(
Anyway, I got the car pulled down to my Dad's house, where I have been staying while I'm putting his estate through probate.
At this point, I'm in search of a replacement points plate for the stock distributor. I've dug through the remains of Dad's races car parts, but no distributors in the shop anywhere. I tried the dealership and of course they will sell me a NEW distributor, but not any parts to fix mine so I can still drive my car.
HERE'S THE QUESTION:
I've heard somewhere that the distributor is a Bosch, and that the model 050 or 090 points plates are the ones used in the Volvo distributor. I have a VW Bosch 050 distributor I can get from my brother-in-law.
Will the parts swap over? Or am I missing something, like direction of rotation or some other factor?
Of course, as always, I'd be glad to talk about buying a used B18/B20 distributor from a member while my MSD is in the factory getting overhauled. Thanks in advance for the the help!

PS: One reason I haven't been around much is because I've been working on the '67 Fiat Abarth I bought from my Dad last year. Do a Web Search if you're not familiar with Carlo Abarth's work!
I hope to have a clip of the little car ripping up the road uploaded to YouTube before too long!
