Hey everybody,
I wanted to announce that I'm bringing in a new shipment of some absolutely outstanding quality plush door aperture/windlace seal and will be selling it direct to members of this group and also on eBay. I should have it here by the end of the week.
A little background info about this stuff:
I brought in what was thought to be the last two rolls of this particular type of windlace a couple years ago. Most, if not all of it was sold to people on the 1800 Yahoo list group who were all very happy with it. Afterwards that type was NLA and the manufacturer started making stuff that was not nearly as nice nor as good of quality. I then imported some other very nice stuff from a different supplier and was selling that mostly on eBay. The second type of windlace was about the same quality as the first but it didn't have as large a gasket tube part as the first kind did so I think the first type was slightly better because of that.
Well it just so happens that the supplier of the first type recently came upon a few leftover rolls of the NLA type with the larger gasket tube. When I heard about this I moved quickly and snapped up a few rolls (big investment) because I knew that this was the last time I'd ever be able to get my hands on any of that old-style windlace and I wanted it to be available to the 1800 community. (Why should all the British car fanatics get all the good stuff ?)
If any of you are in need of some new windlace I encourage you to order some as soon as you can. It is absolutely beautiful stuff. I really like the large gasket tube it has. Gives you a great seal against the door and door windows.
I'm not sure of what the price is going to yet as I have to wait and see what my landed cost is but I expect I'll be able to sell it for about the same as what IPD charges for their plushy windlace ($72 USD per side), or maybe a few bucks more. I wish I could sell it cheaper but the price has a lot to do with the rate of exchange between the USD and European currencies and we all know the USD is at record lows vis a vis those currencies. So blame George Bush not me for the high cost of imported weather stripping.
Also keep in mind that I ship my windlace pre-measured and miter cut so it's ready to install. I also provide very well written and illustrated installation instructions whereas IPD just gives you a few extra inches of seal, no instructions and expects you to figure out how to properly measure and miter cut it. That's just crazy because it takes special equipment and a fair bit of expertise to do a nice clean miter cut on that stuff. Without all that you're pretty much assured of ending up with a messy jagged miter cut that looks like crap.
That is all,
