Greetings all.
First, thanks to lucid, beef i roll, rhaire, Bruce S, B.C, and BLT for help on my previous thread.
Since my last thread
http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=1231689&show_all=1 ,
I replaced the 25 amp fuse and fuse holder near the drivers strut tower.
Trying to make my intermittent problem occur, I drove my car for about 15 miles, with about a dozen starts. It ran, and started fine. One unusual thing I noticed was when I turned on the ignition and cranked the cold engine, the headlights remained on, and briefly went off the the engine caught (off for about 1 second, or less). Then they came back on while the engine was running.
The speedometer also briefly spiked to 5-40 mph when I cranked the engine.
On this 30 degree night, I tried to start the car, without success.
What I did, what I tested this night:
crank engine- headlights go off when cranking, does not start
crank engine with AMM (Air Mass Meter) disconnected - does not start
crank engine, test spark- there is a spark, though it might be kind of weak
crank engine, test light connected to coil terminal one- the light goes on when the ignition is on, and pulses when cranking. Light might be only very slightly dimmer while cranking.
crank engine- after half a dozen attempts to start, the tailpipe does not smell like gas.
crank engine- speedometer spikes to about 35 mph momentarily
Crank engine, listen for fuel pump relay and fuel pump- it sounds like the relay clicks and the fuel pump buzzes when I crank the engine.
Thanks for the help so far. This one really has me stumped.
