Won't start 700 1992

My 740 turbo wagon has always been an easy start... Drove the car hard last night... took it to the hardware store this morning... went out this evening and the car wont start. It turns over well... It will just about start but die. It did kick in for long enough to give it gas and rev the motor but died again. Where do I start? Fuel filter?
Thank you.
PS. I am not a mechanic.
