Difficulty raising hood '95 964 900 1995

The hood has become very difficult to raise after being closed for a long period. It's so resistant, I almost hesitate to push it too hard, for fear of bending or breaking something. The worst place is the bottom 1/3 of the travel from closed to open. After I do raise it, it moves easier.

Are those 2 support pistons going bad ? Or is it a lubrication problem of the hinges ?
