With the gas prices going through the roof all over the country, I am trying to find a way to reliably increase the mileage on my B230F engines.(The trip to Washington State and back took over $1000.00 in fuel) I have owned several Japanese autos and was inpressed by the overall efficiency of the engines. My 1986 Isuzu Trooper II was built like a tank, had a 2.3 liter engine, big flat windscreen, and a progressive linkage two barrel carb. The truck got 29 miles per gallon at 70 miles an hour. I saw it miles up in the country a year after I unloaded it for a new Dodge truck and the owner said it still got 29 mpg with over 150K miles. The basic engine was not all that different from the B230F(and may have been a copy)except for the fuel system. I've been looking at Toyota fuel injectors with the thought of changing the Bosch system out (getting rid of the ECU) and putting in a system out an 82 - 2005 Toyota Celica, injectors, pump, ECU, AMM, etc. Has anyone played with the fuel delivery of these engines?
Regards,
