Timing gears just replaced 120-130

Hi all,

I have just replaced the timing gears on my 1970 b20 and replaced them with the full steel set.
The old gears became very noisy and had a backlash of 1mm between the gears.
Even though the engine does need a complete overhaul, I am saving for this and had to change the gears as the noise was embarrasing.

Upon examination of the oil nozzle, i found that it was clogged.
Any cause for this?
The engine has had regular oil and oil filter changes.
How would i know if the nozzle becomes clogged again as i do not want the new gears to wear unneccessarily.

Would i need to run the new gears in?

Thanks
