As Curly used to say "I'm thinkin' but nuthin's happening.
Here is the symptom: car idles fine, accellerates fine. But sometimes, not very often (maybe once every couple of miles) while cruising, usually when lighting up on the gas pedal, the car jerks a little, like hesitates. Sometimes it jerks a lot, and it feels like the transmission or differential are jerking.
Recent history: went through car wash with gas cap off. Have run two fresh tanks of gas through since and each time put in a container of dryer stuff (alcohol).
Also, just put in a junk yard auto transmission, which shifts nice and smooth.
I was trying to blame it on the transmission but it shifts and accelerates smoothly.
I was thinking it is the water in the tank from the car wash, but two tanks later it is about the same.
Since it seems to happen when backing off on the gas or at least not stepping on it, and it idles fine, I am wondering about something to do with the fuel delivery, or even electrical????? If it is water in the fuel tank, wouldn't it sometimes idle rough?
