Hello All,
Second immediate problem. Sorry to post so much, but I have had a rash of problems to solve. Here's the latest.
There's a slight coolant loss and speckles of green above the top seal of the water pump which was replaced 2-1/2 years and 60K miles ago. Top seal and area above the pump has some loose crud from what I would assume is a slow oil leak from one of the seals behind the timing cover which has corrupted the seal.
At 235K, I'm assuming it's time to replace:
Water pump, including top seal, heater pipe seal, and gasket, even though pump seems to be fine with the exception of the top seal
Cam, Intermediate,and Front Crank Seal
Timing Belt (replaced 35K miles ago) if necc, cause it could be oil fouled.
From my review of the archives, I will try to replace the front crank seal w/o removal of the seal carrier, but I will still purchase the gasket, in the event it looks like I need to remove the seal carrier to access the shaft for cleaning.
Oh, and I should have two of each seal on hand.
Do I have this right. I'd appreciate your thoughts. I would like to make this repair all in one day.
Thanks a lot.
Marty Wolfson
