Hell All,
Its the 93 w/ 235K
Tomorrow I am (hopefully) replacing the front crank seal, probably the timing belt, and water pump. I'm also replacing the intermediate and cam seals.
The purpose of this project is to undo the damage done by a leaking front crank seal and I've done a search of the archives, and just about memorized the Bentley. The three seals are in the freezer with the back side fully gooped up with grease and sitting in a dab of synthetic oil per someone's recommendations in the archives.
I'm a little concerned about popping the crank seal out with a screwdriver and the access available to work in that confined space. When I did my tranny output seal, it didn't want to come out easily and I ended up installing a couple of drywall screws in the body of the seal which enabled me to pull the seal out that way. Is this something I may encounter with the front crank seal.
BTW, I also purchased a seal carrier gasket, in case the seal was stubborn, or I felt a need to take the carrier off.
Do you have any last minute tips with the regard to the seals. Or for that matter anything else with this project.
BTW, I hope I'm done working on this car for a while (after this) as I'm in need of a break.
Thanks,
Marty Wolfson
