Cleaning Mass Air Flow Sensor? 200

After checking every thing else, I think the warm hard start I have been experiencing with a '90 240 might be cause by a weak Mass Air Flow Sensor. Before I change out that expensive trinket, I thought I should try to clean it. So . . .

Can the Mass Airflow Sensor on a '90 240 be safely cleaned and, if so, what solvent should be used?
