Hi guys, First post ever so here goes.
I just finished making a "Spark box" with 2 relays (an 8 pin DPDT and a 5 pin SPDT)a battery, switch, a capacitor and an ATV coil. The ATV coil is very small compared to an automotive one...
Anyway I switch it on, it clicks the sparkplug like mad and if you touch it (I did this, and never again) it boots the living crap out of you... anyway, after about 15 to 20 seconds, the sparking gets lower and lower in frequency, the relays are clicking away, but I get no spark at all at the sparkplug anymore. Is this because the coil is getting to hot? Can I regulate the flow to it somehow, or just get a 12V automotive coil and throw this little ATV one in the bin? Thanks very much all.
James (AKA Shamanjim)
P:S : It seems the bigger the sparkplug the faster it gets hot and the faster the spark dies.
