reverse light switch (manual trans) 200 1989

Hi all,

I'm finding that when I place the transmission into reverse that my rear lights turn on then go out right away. If I push the stick towards my front-left (still in reverse) the light sometimes comes on, but goes out again as soon as I let go the stick. Is this the switch itself or something else out of adjustment? Though I have not been in another 240 with manual, this stick feels floppy; might that be a cause??
