rebuilt alternator... sticks? 700

I had my alternator rebuilt when its bearings went out because of difficulty finding what model it was supposed to be since it had no identifying marks or labels left on it.
While the bearings were failing, the alternator's belt started jumping as though it was catching at a few points along its rotation.
Since then, it's made noise, and the noise has gotten somewhat worse.

I had the belt tight enough, but not too tight, and when it was, it bounced a lot and messed with the idle. So I tightened it up to reduce the bounce and even out the idle. The noise is worse with it tightened as is.

My question is, what's the deal? Is there something that was missed when it was rebuilt? If it holds until summer, I can buy a new replacement, but I don't really dig having this problem, as I think it might be contributing to so-so mileage (that and the really old dizzy cap).
I could possibly take some digital crappy video of it and post it, so long as none of you guys laugh ;).
