Defective Fuel Pressure Regulator? 200 1985

1985 244 B230F automatic

I just replaced the fuel pressure regulator because the vacuum hose smelled a lot like gas and had droplets of gas in it. Now, two months later, the hose on the regulator smells like gas but no droplets. It was a Bosch OEM part from FCP.

Is it possible I have a deffective regulator? Shouldn't the gas smell have dissipated by now? The car runs well, except it has an occassional hesitation under load problem, which may or may not be one of the fuel pumps.

Thanks, Jim
