NA vs Turbo MPG? 700

Anyone owned enough of both or been around enough to compare much?
Specifically with a manual trans.

I've read a metric TON of MPG threads here and elsewhere. Seems to be all over the place. Some people are stuck in the teens either way, few odd and ends are managing 28 to 30 somehow. Myself, 87 745t M46 has settled at 23-26, depending.
And I usually get really, really good MPG out of any given car.

So anyhow, is the turbo that detrimental to MPG?
