brake hose replacement on 240 200 1989

My front brake hoses have cracks in the rubber (volvo 240 1989). Otherwise they look fine and do not leak. I believe they are original equipment. Do they need to be replaced, and if so, what is the best procedure? Can I use a torch to heat up the connections? Any good hints?
