slight lurch in auto transmission, a problem or normal? 200

I have read a few posts about hard shifts from 1st gear to second, but my 244 (189,000) has only a slight lurch in that gear transmission. Is this a normal occurance and does not mean that the transmission is going? Or does it mean I need a new kickdown cable or at the very least to have it lubed?
