Overheatin' wagon 200 1980

I have a 1980 Volvo 245 and it has been overheating. I can't figure out why. It overheats after being driven for five minutes. Doesn't overheat after I start it up.

I've replaced the thermostat already and it still overheats. The fan still runs and I plan to replace the water pump when I replace the timing belt (hopefully) this weekend. The coolant level has gone down and I've had to replenish coolant but there are no leaks.

Since it's a '80 model, I don't think it would be suspectible to the temp compensation board failure. Am I correct? But since the coolant level has gone down, this is likely not the problem -- just need to know anyway.

What else should I look for?

Thanks,
Bryant
