Rear shock removal on 90 740 GL: which is correct? 700

Hey,

I'm replacing the rear shocks on my 1990 740 GL Sedan tomorrow, weather permitting. Live axle, not independent or Nivomat.

I PB Blaster'ed the lower bolts in preparation. (I also got a new rubber hose (not PVC, which is too rigid in cold weather)for my air wrench. LOL) Loaded for bear, in other words.

I was looking through the Chilton's manual and it tells me to remove plugs in the spare tire well to get at the upper shock bolts. Then I check the FAQ here and it says you remove plugs in the wheel wells to get at them.

So: who's smoking crack? Which is it? I want to do this as quickly as I can so I don't freeze out there tomorrow.

Thanks.

Thaddeus
