960 removing the fuel pump

Can someone please tell me how to remove the plastic seal ring on the gas tank in order to remove the fuel pump. I have everything removed but cain't get the ring to let go. I did remove the large clamp from the outer of the ring. And tried to turn the ring but still no go. Does it snap off or do you have to twist it. Thank You, Tom
