Scan - Seek wires on 90/91 am-fm tape 200

Hi all, I have an 87 240 wagon(245?). I got an AM-FM Digital Tape deck out of a wrecked 90 or 91. I do not have the power antenna on mine. There are two wires coming off the back to a common plug one is marked scan and the other seek. I checked an online source for wiring schematics but it did not help. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? The radio works, but I can't program stations into memory and the up/down tune buttons only work down. I use seek to go up the dial.
