Which Shocks and Struts 200 1988

I want to replace the shocks and struts on my 1988 244 with a m47. I have owned the car for the last six years and have no intensions of selling it. I don't race the car, but I certainly appreciate a good handleing car. I'm considering KYB, or Bilstein HD. My mecanic who I trust very much says that the KYBs will be great and I should just get them and save the money. So, while I know that the KYB is a good product, am I going to miss out on anything in not getting the Bilsteins. This go is going to be recieving IPD Bars in the future as well, once I have finished restoring the suspension.

Basically, I don't want to buy the KYB set up and wished that I had gone for the Bilstein, However, I also don't want to buy Bilstein just for the name. So, given that, What would be my best option? Thanks.
